Frequently Asked Questions

About Solara Mental Wellness

At Solara Mental Wellness, we believe mental health care should be human, modern, and practical. We combine evidence-based medicine with an integrative, whole-person approach—using psychotherapy techniques, nutrition, and lifestyle strategies alongside medication management.

What services do you offer?

We provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and integrative care that treats the whole person—mind, body, and lifestyle. Each visit combines evidence-based psychiatry with brief psychotherapy and holistic strategies designed to create lasting change.

Do you prescribe controlled substances (like stimulants or benzodiazepines)?

We follow evidence-based prescribing standards and exercise heightened caution with all controlled substances. These medications are only used when clearly indicated after a thorough clinical evaluation. Benzodiazepines are reserved for short-term or acute situations due to well-established risks associated with long-term use. Our approach prioritizes treatments that support long-term brain health, functional improvement, and sustainable symptom relief.

Can AI tools or technology be part of my care?

Yes, but always with human oversight. We use HIPAA-compliant technology and select AI tools to improve safety checks, documentation, and efficiency. These tools never make clinical decisions—your provider does. The goal is better care, not less human care.

Do you offer therapy?

Psychotherapy is integrated into medication management visits using techniques from CBT, DBT, and ACT. Standalone therapy sessions aren’t currently offered.

Do you accept insurance?

We are currently a private pay practice. We plan to add insurance options in the future, and updates will be shared as new carriers are onboarded.

Where are appointments held?

All visits are conducted in-person or through secure telehealth for patients located anywhere in Texas State. You can connect from any private location whether that’s home, work, or wherever you feel comfortable.

How soon can I be seen?

New patient appointments are typically available within 24–72 hours.

What if I need urgent help?

Solara Mental Wellness is not an emergency service.
If you are in crisis, please call 988 or go to your nearest emergency department.

Do you offer supplement or integrative recommendations?

Yes. When appropriate, we discuss evidence-informed supplements, nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle interventions that support your mental health and overall wellness.

What technology do you use for appointments and messaging?

We use a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform for telehealth, scheduling, and messaging. You’ll have a patient portal for managing appointments, forms, and refill requests.

Can I message my provider between visits?

Messaging is available for brief, non-clinical needs such as scheduling, refill requests, or administrative questions. Clinical concerns and treatment questions are best addressed during your appointment so we can give them the time and attention they deserve.

Who do you see?

We see children (8+), adolescents, and adults.

Do you offer lab work or genetic testing?

Yes, when clinically appropriate, we can coordinate labs or pharmacogenomic (genetic) testing to help guide treatment decisions.
